AUGUSTA, Ga. – Entered into rest Wednesday, March 25, 2009, LT George Sharp Dodgen III, 27, son of George and Melba Dodgen.
George lived in Augusta most of his life. He was home schooled and an Eagle Scout. He was a 2005 graduate of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University where he attended on a full ROTC scholarship and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Studies. He was called to active duty in Feb. of 2008 and stationed at Ft. Gordon.
Family members in addition to his parents are his sisters: Heather Dodgen and Ashley Dodgen; brother: Alex Dodgen, all of Augusta; paternal grandparents: Louise Dodgen and the late Rev. George Sharp Dodgen, maternal grandparents: Lyvonne Odom and the late Herbert D. Odom of Vidalia, GA; many loved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 28, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Rev. Stephen Hightower and Rev. Warren Ham officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park with Full Military Honors.
