Augusta, GA – Born to eternal life on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, Rev. Michael Eugene Roverse, 64, Roman Catholic Priest for the Diocese of Savannah since his ordination in September 8, 1984

Michael was born in Fayetteville, NC but moved to Augusta and graduated from Westside High School. He attended St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore. He earned his BA from St. Meinrad’s Seminary in Belgium, his Master of Arts in Religious Studies from Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium.
Michael’s parish assignments were St Joseph in Macon, St James in Savannah, St Anne’s in Columbus and St Teresa of Avila in Augusta, where he remained from 2000 until present.

Family members include his sister: Carla Thompson; brothers: Mark Roverse, Matthew Roverse and Gene Roverse as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Col. Gene and Mary Roverse and his sister: Colleen Takase.

On Monday, March 20, 2023,the Holy Rosary and viewing will be from 9:00 to 10:30 prior to the funeral Mass at 11:00AM at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church with Bishop Stephen Parks as celebrant.

A second funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the Cathedral Basilica of St John the Baptist, Savannah, GA. Interment will follow at 11:30 at the Catholic Cemetery in Savannah.
