Aaron Earlie Helms, Jr.

Aaron Earlie Helms, Jr., 66, of Augusta, GA went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 18, 2024, with his daughter and son-in-law by his side.

He was born in Augusta, GA in 1958 to Shirley Campbell and Aaron Earlie Helms. Aaron grew up in Jackson, SC and graduated from Jackson High School as Valedictorian of the Class of 1976. He attended the University of Georgia before returning to Augusta to begin his career. Given the gift of gab, Aaron was meant to be a salesman. He worked in a number of industries including automobiles, insurance, and flooring for many years. He was a member of the Professional Construction Estimators Association; he held a number of roles including President of PCEA National and even got his ear pierced to raise money at the convention one year.

Aaron was a natural born musician; he played the drums growing up and taught himself to play the piano by ear. He was a member of Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church where he sang in the choir and participated in an annual Mexico Mission Trip for years. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved tending to his rose garden. Aaron was a loving father and truly adored his daughter. One of his favorite past times was taking Taylor to ballet on Saturday mornings when she was a child.

Aaron was preceded in death by his father, Aaron Earlie Helms and his niece, Jessica Saxon.

He is survived by his daughter, Taylor Helms Bentley (Brad); his mother, Shirley Campbell Helms; his sister, Donna Nickel; his brother, David Helms (Sydelle); and his niece, Jordan Helm

The family will receive friends Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Home at 2:00 PM with a memorial service immediately following at 3:00 PM in the chapel with Rev. Greg Hatfield officiating.
