Agnes Denton Augusta, GA – On Saturday, April 16, 2016, Mary Agnes Mooneyhan Denton, age 89, went home to be with the Lord.
She was a loving and kind mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She lived in Augusta for 65 years and had just celebrated her 69th wedding anniversary. Agnes was a Charter Member of Alice Warren Chapter #483 OES, and a dual member and Past Matron of Richmond Chapter #463 OES. She remained living independently in her home, with the help of her dedicated caregivers, until the time of her death. She enjoyed sewing, reading, crocheting, playing the piano, and visiting with her beloved family and friends. Agnes had a wonderful sense of humor and was not afraid to speak her mind.
She will be missed by all who knew her, but especially her family: husband, Robert Allen Denton, daughter, Delilah (Dee) Denton Ellis, (David), granddaughters, Shannon Rountree Hershkowitz, (David), Lynn Rountree Dixon, (Van), grandsons, Justin Ellis, (Melissa), Blake Ellis, (Kim), and great grandchildren, Ian Hershkowitz Matthews, Adam Hershkowitz, Lucas Dixon, Shelby Dixon and Logan Dixon, Morgan Ellis, and Luke Ellis.
The family would like to thank the wonderful and compassionate staff at Doctors Hospital, as well as her incredible caregivers, Lossie Luton, Marilyn Hall, Patsy Canady and Wanda Bolton whose excellent care allowed Agnes to live life fully and on her own terms.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Richmond Chapter #463 Order of Eastern Star, c/o Katie McDaniel, 2539 Nunnery Rd., Hephzibah, GA 30813.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 12:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Rev. Todd Wiggins officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
