Augusta, GA-Entered into rest on Thursday, October 12, 2023, Alfred Freeman Hart Jr., 81.

Buddy was born in Houston, Texas; he lived in the Augusta area for 70 years and was retired from Owens-Corning Fiberglass. Buddy was an avid bowler for the past 70 years and was known as “The Legend” in the Augusta bowling community. He was a lifetime member of the Augusta Bowling Association and was elected into the Hall of Fame in 1980. Buddy was the tournament owner and manager of the Yogi Hart 250 Masters Bowling Tournament, a 3-time winner of the tournament series that has been conducted in Augusta, GA for 60+ years. When he wasn’t bowling, he could also be found on the golf course enjoying another favorite pastime.

Buddy was a loving and devoted father, brother, and grandfather. He especially adored the most recent addition to the family, his great-grandson, Weston. Buddy will be remembered and missed by all who knew him.

Family members include his children: Darlene Hanby (Don), Tammy M. Baker (Darren), Ray McNeely (Dina), and Lewis McNeely; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and sister: Virginia “Ginny” Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents: Alfred “Yogi” Hart and Esther “Granny” Hart, brother: BobBill Hart and son-in-law: Alan Lindsey.

The memorial service will be held Wednesday October 18, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Mark Downs and Rev. Lewis McNeely officiating. Click the link to view the funeral service Live Stream
