Mrs. Alice M. Hughes
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Westwood Nursing Home, Mrs. Alice M. Hughes, 94, wife of 48 years to the late James Odell Hughes.
Mrs. Hughes was born in Florence, SC to Ada Seymour Moak and William Leonard Moak. She was a retired secretary and bookkeeper working at Graniteville-Sibley Division and then worked at The Tile Center in her later years. Mrs. Hughes was a faithful member of Hill Baptist Church, volunteering many years with the Girls Auxiliary. She was past president of the Pilot Club in 1948. She also volunteered with the Augusta Genealogical Society. Mrs. Hughes was a generous person and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Family members include brother, William L. Moak (Ruth) and a sister, Jane Elizabeth (Betty) Youngers, both of whom reside in Buffalo, NY, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Monday, November 7, 2011 at 11 A.M. at Westover Memorial Park with Dr. Kenneth Word officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
