Alice P. Beck
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Monday, April 29, 2013, Mrs. Alice P. Beck, 100, wife of the late Tom Beck.
Mrs. Beck was born in Randolph, LA to Thomas and Julia Prewett. She graduated high school in Pine Hill, AL in 1929. While in Nursing School in Tuscaloosa, AL in 1932, she met the love of her life, Tom Beck. They married in 1934. They moved to Augusta in 1937 when she accepted a position with the Veterans Administration Hospital-Lenwood Division. Mrs. Beck retired after 35 years of service as Assistant Chief Nurse. She was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Beck enjoyed cooking “Good Ole Country Food”, crossword puzzles, watching the Atlanta Braves, playing spades, and beating the guys in football “contests”. She especially loved and enjoyed her family.
Family members include son: Tom Beck, Jr. (Patty); grandchildren: Jason Beck (Leslie), Jess May; and 5 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her siblings: Earl Prewett, Elmer Prewett, Gladys Blackwell, and Grace Erwin.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Rev. Mac Enfinger officiating.
