Alice Louise Peterson of Augusta, GA and Richmond, VA passed away on November 23, 2023, at the age of 77, from complications associated with Parkinson’s Disease.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Milledge M., Sr. and Marian C. Peterson of Augusta, GA, and her brother, Milledge M. Peterson, Jr. also of Augusta, GA. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Patricia Peterson Bradley Harper (Jay); her niece, Patricia Peterson Schmidt (Steve); her nephew, Milledge M. Peterson, III (Joanne), great nieces Caroline Schmidt, Julia Schmidt, Sarah Schmidt, and Kate Peterson; her great nephew, Sam Peterson; and her close friend and companion, Beth Sorah. She is also survived by a number of beloved extended family members.
Alice was born in Augusta, GA and graduated from the Academy of Richmond County High School in 1964. She attended The University of Georgia and graduated in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and was an active member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
After teaching at elementary schools in GA and FL, Alice went to work with Southern Bell Telephone Company in Atlanta, GA. In 1983, she joined AT&T Corporation where she had a distinguished career in Product and Sales Consulting and Customer Relationship Management, achieving numerous significant awards for client sales and service in Washington D.C. and Richmond, VA. She retired from the company in 2003 after which she obtained her residential real estate license and subsequently worked with the Ward Properties, Keller Williams, and Coach House Realty firms in Richmond.
Alice was an ardent golf fan and having grown up attending the Masters Golf Tournaments in Augusta, enjoyed playing spirited rounds with friends who shared her love of the game. She was also a talented photographer and watercolor artist and had a renowned gift for storytelling. Throughout her life, Alice had a way of connecting with people and forming friendships that have spanned decades.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 29, 2023 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. in the gathering area of Trinity on the Hill Global Methodist Church, 1330 Monte Sano Ave, Augusta, GA 30904. A funeral service will follow in the church chapel at 2:00 p.m. with The Reverend Dr. Carolyn C. Moore officiating the service. Burial will take place at Westover Memorial Park immediately following the service.
Memorial contributions in memory of Alice may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
A Celebration of Alice’s life with be held in Richmond, VA at a later date.
