Alice Watts

Augusta, GA – Alice Etta Robertson Watts, 71, went to her eternal home on Sunday, July 2, 2023. She was born on November 23, 1951 in Augusta, GA to the late Earl and Bonnie Robertson. She married her beloved husband, the late Clifton B. Watts, on December 18, 1970. He preceded her in death in April 2017.

Alice is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Vicki and Andy Barrett; son: George Watts (Allison); 4 grandchildren: Mary Alice Barrett, Carson Barrett, Maggie Grace Barrett, and Grayson Watts; 3 sisters: Lynn Folger, Erline Smith, and Angela “Ace” Robertson; and her brother: David Robertson. In addition to her husband of 52 years and parents, she is preceded in death by her two brothers, Billy Robertson and Tim Robertson, and nephew, Alan Sizemore.

She was a faithful member of First Free Will Baptist Church. Over the years, she taught children and adult Sunday School Classes and VBS. She also served as church secretary for many years.

Alice was employed by King Mill for 30 years and spent retirement caring for her grandchildren. She was a proud grandma; spoiling, loving, and caring for her grandchildren until she suffered a traumatic brain injury after a fall in October 2020. It was then that her grandchildren took great joy in caring for her.

She was an avid reader, read her bible daily, and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She loved to travel and her family will hold onto their memories of all their travels together. She especially loved the mountains, cruises, and shopping.

As we grieve her loss on earth we rejoice that she has entered her eternal home with Jesus Christ. We take comfort in God’s promise of eternal life as we live in truth that we will meet again.

The family would like to extend thanks to Southeastern Hospice for their compassion, gentle care, and support of our beloved mother and grandmother, as well as our family during this most difficult time.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Charles Corley and Pastor Benny Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Andy Barrett, Carson Barrett, Nathan Galloway, Shawn Fogg, Chuck Corley, Paul Wittke and Mark Chapin.
