Alma Holmes
Augusta, GA – Alma Perry Homes, beloved wife of Arthur W. Holmes, passed away at her Augusta home early on Wednesday, November 21, 2012. She is survived by her son, John Holmes, of Lake Oconee, GA and his wife, Toby Jacobson Holmes; granddaughters Pamela Holmes Wilmot, of North Augusta SC, Casey Holmes Thornton, of Watkinsville, GA, grandson Sean Leigh Holmes, of Acworth, GA, and granddaughter, Cathy Dunstan, of Atlanta, GA. She also leaves behind eight great grandchildren, Michael Holmes, Jordan Holmes, Dylan Allen, Ashleigh Holmes, Alyssa Holmes, Addison Holmes, Gavin Wilmot, and McKinley Thornton. She also is survived by a beloved niece, Josephine (Emma) Leonard, of Tomball, TX, plus many other nieces and nephews.
Alma was born August 1, 1920, in Ada, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Simon Perry and Casey Alexander Perry. Alma grew up as a member of the Chickasaw Indian tribe, with eight siblings, all of whom preceded her in death.
Alma and Art married on June 12, 1945. They led a wonderful life throughout the 30 years Art served in the U.S. Air Force. After retirement, Alma and Art traveled across the US, Canada, and Mexico in their motor home, and settled in Augusta, GA near their son and grandchildren.
Alma was a beautiful and elegant lady. She has been cherished by all whom she has touched, and she will be deeply missed.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in Fort Jackson National Cemetery with Fr. Lubinsky officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at Mr. Holmes residence.
