Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Friday, August 25, 2017, Amanda D. Franklin, 81, loving wife of Robert Davie Franklin.
Mrs. Franklin was born in the family home in Madison, GA to Albert and Ruth Daniel. She attended Athens High School and the University of Georgia. The game of golf brought Amanda and the love of her life and best friend together for 48 years. She was an accomplished artist, art teacher, seamstress, decorator and designer, she even designed her own home. Mrs. Franklin worked as Director of Sales for AmeriSuite & Hyatt, where she loved meeting people and forming lifelong friendships. She never met a stranger. Amanda relished in her grandchildrens’ accomplishments. She loved the beach, opera, traveling, gardening and reading, as well as, spending time with her family and friends. The family would like to extend special thanks to Heartland Hospice and the angels that cared for Amanda: Kathryn Bell, Rick Pope, and Rhonda Lovett and Rev. Greg Hatfield and the caring staff at Trinity-on-the-Hill United Methodist Church.
Family members, in addition to her husband, include: daughters: Cindy Glover (John) of Jacksonville, FL, Kathy Franklin of Aiken, SC; son: Steve Franklin (Pam Smith) of Mesa, AZ; grandchildren: Maggie E. Tuggle (Max), Patrick Glover, Christian Glover and Hogan Franklin.
A funeral service will be Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Greg Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow in Madison, GA. at Madison Memorial Cemetery at 2:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Jud C. Hickey Center for Alzheimer’s Care, 1901 Central Avenue, Augusta, GA 30904.
