Anastasia “Anne” Markowski
Augusta, GA – Passed peacefully after a brief battle with cancer on Saturday, August 31, 2013, Anastasia “Anne” Markowski, 72.
Anne will be remembered for her selfless drive to help those less fortunate, her love of animals and her strong devotion to her family. Her grandkids were especially important to her. She served on the Human Rights Council for Support Solutions of Georgia. She also loved tennis and was the co-founder of the Sand Hills Tennis Association for the South Carolina Tennis Association. Anne recently retired from a life long career as a social worker, most recently with Lutheran Services of Georgia and Serenity Behavioral Health.
Family members include daughters: Karen Johnson and her husband Russell of Houston, TX, Jackie Markowski-Carson and her husband Randy of Charlotte, NC; son: Stan Markowski and his wife Debbie of Augusta, GA; grandchildren: Katherine Anne Markowski, Parker Arjen Markowski, Jacob Alec Johnson, McKenna Elizabeth Johnson, Abbie Miranda Miller; brothers: Mark Meter, Stephen Loubser; mother: Emeline Mary Anastasia Loubser; and dear friend: Karen Lowery.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Save The Animal Rescue Society at starsrescue.org.
