Mr. Andrew G. R. Crane
Korean War Veteran and DuPont Retiree
AUGUSTA, GA- Mr. Andrew George “Roscoe” Crane, 79, husband of fifty-five years to Margie Prickett Crane, entered into rest on Friday, May 6th, 2011 at his home.
Roscoe was born in Tamassee, South Carolina and shared his residence between Augusta and Mountain Rest, SC. He is the son of the late George and Fannie Mae Crane. Roscoe and Margie had two sons, the late George Augustus Crane and Randy Thomas Crane. He is survived by: his wife, Margie Prickett Crane; his sister, Hazel Orr and her husband Marvin of Seneca, SC; his son, Randy Thomas Crane and his wife Laurie; two grandchildren: Jeremy Crane and Evan Crane.
Roscoe served in the United States Navy. He was a Veteran of the Korean War and was awarded the Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, China Service Medal and the Navy Good Conduct Medal. He was a Laboratory Technician for DuPont at Savannah River Plant. He was a Founding Father of Boy Scout Troup #126 in Augusta and served as Scoutmaster. He was an avid Clemson Tigers fan. He enjoyed photography, woodworking, fishing, spending time at their Mountain Rest home and telling stories of his military service and childhood.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 9, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service. A graveside service will be on Tuesday at 4:00 P.M. at Oconee Memorial Park in Seneca, SC. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at the Mausoleum.
