Anita Bronold

Jackson, SC – Anita Bernadette Bronold, 91, entered into rest Saturday, April 22, 2023.

Anita, known as “Bernie” to her family and close friends, attended Mt. St. Agnes College, spent several years as a Catholic nun, devoted her life to the education of children and the rescue of abandoned animals of all types. After retiring from the Richmond County Board of Education, she continued her mission of animal rescue.

She was predeceased by her parents John and Marie Reittinger Bronold, her siblings Josephine Bronold, John Bronold, and Charlotte Bronold Smith. Surviving family members include her sister Rosemarie Bronold Moree, her brother Paul Bronold, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and her sister in the Lord: Laura Jeanette Playford.

The funeral Mass will be held Thursday, April 27, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at the Church of the Most Holy Trinity with Fr. Jacob Almeter celebrant. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the local animal rescue of one’s choice.
