Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, Mrs. Ann D. Cannon, 90, wife of the late LTC Lee B. Cannon, Jr., US Army (retired).
Ann was born and grew up in Birmingham, AL, where she graduated from Minor High School. After high school she married Lee B. Cannon, Jr., also of Birmingham. As an Army officer’s wife, Ann was very supportive of her husband's career. They lived all over the world before settling in Augusta, GA in 1969. Ann was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She had previously worked as a real estate agent and worked with her husband for many years.
Ann was very active in her church and community; she was a member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church where she was head of the Worship Committee for several decades. She was a former member of the Augusta Country Club, the Augusta Garden Club, and was involved in many other civic organizations.
Ann will be remembered as a loving and faithful Christian lady who treasured her faith, family and friends. She had a generous spirit and her acts of service to her family, church and community were admirable. She was known to be an amazing and talented cook. No one ever entered her home without an offer of a home-cooked meal prepared by her loving hands. Feeding people was her ministry and she used her God-given talent to nourish the bodies and souls of those she encountered. She would offer words of encouragement and wisdom to all. She will be greatly missed but her legacy will live on through the example and lessons that she taught her children and grandchildren.
Family members include her sons: Chris Cannon (Carolyn) and Glenn Cannon; grandchildren: Anslee Ferguson (Brayden), Christopher Cannon (Shelby), Preston Cannon, Matthew Cannon, and Harrison Cannon; and brother: Thomas R. Draper (Bessie). Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Lee and her parents, John and Nell Draper.
The funeral service will be held Monday, November 14, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Woodlawn United Methodist Church with Rev. Sonny Mason and Rev. Jim Higgins officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Her grandsons Chris, Preston, Matthew and Harrison Cannon will serve as her pallbearers.
