Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on June 23, 2022, at the residence, Mrs. Anne Ronan McCormack, 82, loving wife of John C. McCormack.
Anne was a native of Boston, Massachusetts. She was a stay-at-home mom and worked as a commercial artist. She was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Anne led a life of service to others and to God primarily as a mother and grandmother. This was her vocation, her mission, her calling, and her offering to God.
Anne also served the larger community as an engaged couple marriage preparation team member for twenty plus years, and as a Retrouvaille team member for struggling marriages for fourteen years. She dreaded doing these weekends because she felt she had little to offer and because she hated being in the spotlight. She did these weekends again and again because she was asked to by others and by God.
However, in her heart, her primary life of sacrifice and service was to her children and grandchildren. Through her powerful example, more than through words, she taught love, forgiveness, humility, courage, commitment, faith, and dependence on God. “God help me” was her silent prayer.
Jesus said, “every good tree bears good fruit… A good tree cannot bear bad fruit… So, by their fruit you will know them” (Matthew 7:17-20). Anne’s good fruit is her family, children, and grandchildren. She is enormously proud of them and thankful for them.
Family members in addition to her husband include her children: Michael (Leigh) McCormack, Moe (Stacy) McCormack, Kelly (Pat) Fair, Patrick (Elizabeth) McCormack, Katie (Brian) Mentel, and Shannon (Lance) Axon; grandchildren: Caitlin (Harrison), Cameron, Michael, Ryan, Annie, Shannon (JT), Rebecca, Daniel, Jonathan (Morgan), Riley, Maggie, Andrew, James, Patrick, Kyleigh, Bailey, Kacey, and Ruth; great-grandchildren: Charlotte & Ronan.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated on June 28th, 11:00 am at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Msgr. P. James Costigan as celebrant. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary on Hill Catholic Church, Aquinas High School or Catholic Social Services.
