Annie L. McGee, 80, formerly of Smyrna, Ga. Passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022. Mrs. McGee was preceded in death by her husband Jesse “Mac” McGee and daughter Donna “P-nut” McGee. Mrs. McGee is survived by her daughter Bonnie M. Hatcher, son in law William K. Hatcher, and granddaughter Hannah Hatcher.
Mrs. McGee was one of eleven children of Carl and Retha Baxley. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings; John Baxley, Louise Brown, Fletcher Baxley, Naomi Hart, David Baxley, and Vonnie Baxley. Surviving siblings are Rachel Muse, Catherine Dunbar, Jake Baxley, and Barbara Allen. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. McGee was a very hard worker all of her life. She did not fully retire until after she was 79 years old. She worked at Sears for over 30 years as well as Publix and Chick-fil-A. She was a very caring woman who loved her neighbors and her fireman. After the terror attacks of September 11, 2001, she “adopted” the personnel of the Cobb County Fire Department Stations 3 and 4. She kept them well supplied with cakes, cookies and other treats. She was also devoted to the Forest Acres Civic Club. She was well known for her ice cream socials at her home which served neighbors, friends, sheriffs, judges, US senators, politicians, and her beloved fireman/first responders.
Burial will be at the Riverview Memorial Park in Smyrna in late January.
