Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Monday, May 6, 2013, Mrs. Annie W. Joe, 102, wife of the late David Joe, Sr. and mother of the late David Joe, Jr.
Born 1911 in Canton, China, she came to Augusta in 1930 during the Great Depression. She taught herself English and successfully ran a grocery store for thirty-three years.
She lived a long, wonderful life and leaves many loving family members. Children: Mary (Dr. Gilbert) Hum, Betty Eng (the late Harry), Howard (Shirley) Joe, Anna Joe, Dr, Charles Joe, Dr. Paul (Mulan) Joe, Game Wong, John Joe, Dr. Peggy (Dr. John) Grady, Dr. Clarence Joe; Grandchildren: Helen (Ken) DeBellis, Dr. Rosemary (Alan) Kawaoka, Dr. Gary (Dr. Linda) Hum, Jon (Christine) Hum, Diana (Craig) Elitharp, Gregory Eng, Howard (Melinda) Joe, Pamela (Dennis) Murray , Adrienne (Beau) Hart, Paula Joe, Hillary and John David Grady; Great grandchildren: Donald (Marta) Parker, Kyle and Thomas Hum, Kirk and Kira Hum, Noelle Kawaoka, Stefanie, Jessica, and Rachel Elitharp, Howard III and Sarah Joe, Grace and Julia Murray, Beau, Savannah and Elissa Hart and Great great grandchildren: Callie, Mia ,Aspen, and Alex Parker.
Funeral services will be held, Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel at Thomas Poteet & Son. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
