Entered into rest on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, Mr. Arthur H. Taylor, Jr., 86, at his residence.
Art was born in Aiken, South Carolina to Arthur H. Taylor Sr. and Nell Sizemore Taylor. He graduated from Greenville Senior High School in 1956. Art attended Wofford and played football for the Terriers. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Art served in the United States Army and retired as a Captain. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Medal, Two Overseas Bars, Army Accommodation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Bronze Star, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm and the Meritorious Service Medal. After retiring from the Army, Art worked for the Georgia Power Company where he retired a second time. Beginning at the age of 14 Art was an avid motorcyclist. He loved the Lord, his family, and his Harley Davidson. Not necessarily in that order. Art was an active member of Martinez Methodist Church, a member of the Harley Owners Group and a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 12190 in Evans, GA. He was a Mason raised in Greenville, SC.
Art is survived by his two sons: Chris Taylor (Laure) and Tim Taylor; four beautiful grandchildren: Lyndsay Richardson (Garrett), Caitlen Taylor, Cole Taylor (Anna) and Mackenzie Taylor. Art was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years: Janice Dellinger Taylor; second wife: Betty Joe Taylor of 6 years; parents: Arthur and Nell Taylor and sister: Betty Taylor.
Art’s family would like to thank the staff of Southeast Hospice and Doctor’s hospital, his loving church family, and his wonderful neighbors who were like family and were always there for him.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 22, 2024 at 3:30 P.M. at Martinez Methodist Church with Rev. Gary McWhorter and Rev. Brian Beveridge officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Art’s favorite verse was Jeremiah 29:11. “For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “Plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
