Arthur J. Wilson
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Wednesday, June 8, 2011, Mr. Arthur J. Wilson, 53.
Mr. Wilson was a lifelong resident of Augusta. He was a member of Greene Street Presbyterian Church. Mr. Wilson was professional tenor for St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Choir.
Arthur Wilson has performed opera, Broadway, sacred and secular concerts over the last 40 years as first tenor. Arthur’s ability to sing in seven languages led him to Eastern and Central Europe, Bermuda, Canada, Italy and Turkey. In 1999, Arthur was the Cantor at the High Latin Mass and sung at an audience with Pope John Paul II at St. Peter’s Basilica, Rome, Italy. Along with John Greene and Bart Black, Arthur was one of Georgia’s 3 Tenors.
Family members include: Martha (Marti) R. Costantino, beloved companion and friend of 20 years, Aiken, S.C.; sister, Anne Wilson of Martinez, GA; brother, James W. Wilson, Jr. and sister-in-law Marsha of Martinez, GA.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. in Hillcrest Memorial Park with Rev. Dr. Richard Sanders and Rev. Mary Kathleen Blanchard officiating. Pallbearers will be Charles E. Livingston, Bart Black, John Greene, Charles P. Burch, David Costantino and Herbie Newsome. Honorary pallbearers will be Director and members of St. Paul’s Episcopal Choir. A memorial service will be held at a later date at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Choir, 605 Reynolds Street, Augusta, GA 30901.
