Augusta, Ga – On July 14, 2012, Roy was guided by Jesus, his savior, from his earthly home to his eternal home with God. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Gloria Coleman Summer Krouse; their 3 children: Gloria Krouse Sinkler and her husband Allen, Ashby Roy Krouse and his wife Donna, Demetria Krouse Willingham and her husband Haskell; and 7 grandchildren: Bartlett, Heather, Lorraine, Summer, Elaine, Ashby, and Alyssa.

Ashby Roy was a native of Augusta, GA. He graduated from Richmond Academy and the Presbyterian College where he was a star on their basketball and tennis teams. Roy served in World War II where he was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart and was recalled to serve 13 months in Korea. He joined First Baptist Church when he was seven years old. He was a descendent of Daniel Marshall, who brought Baptist worship to Georgia. Marshall founded Kiokee Baptist Church of Georgia. Roy was an active member of Uptown Kiwanis, having served as president. He served as deacon at First Baptist Church and moderator. The members of the Crusaders Sunday School Class played a big influence in his life.

A graveside service will be conducted on Monday, July 16 in Westover Memorial Park at 10:00 A.M. with Dr. Greg DeLoach, Dr. Rodger Murchison, and Dr. R.J. Robinson officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Barnard, Joseph Fuller, Robert Moore, Clinton Lewis, William Stevens, Patrick Smith, W.L. Inglett, and Don Cheeks.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund: P.O. Box 14489, Augusta, Ga. 30919.
