Austin J. Childers

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Saturday, March 19, 2023, Austin Jacob Childers, age 27.

Austin was a lifelong native of Augusta, Georgia who had an amazing love for his Momma, Dad, sister and all his family while also loving to be a proud fan and enthusiast of the Georgia Bulldogs. He bled red and black while with a heart of gold. He graduated in 2014 from Westside High School where he was an outstanding baseball player and wanting to continue the legacy of his uncles, paternal grandfather, and father in the love for baseball. He attended South Georgia College following after his paternal grandfather who was once the baseball head coach and where his uncles had once attended.

Austin truly loved to make anyone he talked to feel like they were the only person in the room while also making you feel like you could laugh till you fell out your chair. He always was so curious and wanting to know everyone’s perspectives on life and their relationships with Christ. Austin always loved to talk about his love for Christ and how that through his whole journey of life, that he will always continue to have, in his words, “An absolute undeniable faith.” He enjoyed being on any golf course where he would jokingly love to hit it harder than anyone out there while also having the best time with his maternal grandfather, Billy Peel, father and his cousins and even his little sister at times although she loved to just be in his presence.

Despite his love for baseball, he was a full round athlete who could pick up any sport with ease and excellence. But beyond his athleticism, he had a passion for spending quality time with his family no matter what it was. He loved to watch movies that had suspense, action and qualities that made his curiosity soar with his Momma, cousins and friends. Along with his huge personality, he could sell you a rock on the road without you even questioning it while also making you feel like even if you just met him, he could make you feel like you were his best friend.

Austin had many passions and desires, but his favorite pastime is always enjoying a good meal while also making you amazed by the sauce concoctions he could create to make it even better. Austin never met a stranger. Austin loved to laugh and had a
great sense of humor that may only few could have along with such a beautiful smile that shined for anyone when they needed one. His smile was just the beginning, his heart for others and life was like anyone of this world. He enjoyed everything outdoors like hunting, fishing and being in the woods. He made hunting seem like it was something more than sport but like an easy hobby where he wouldn’t leave the woods without walking out of there with what he wanted with his Daddy, maternal grandfather and many others. Throughout his life even at a young age it was unbelievable how much wisdom he had on his faith even as a little boy which even makes us wonder just the mission God had for him even before he knew.

Family members include his father: Terry O. Childers, Jr. (Misti); mother: Michelle Peel Childers; sister: Kayla Louise Childers; paternal grandmother: Lynne Barfield Childers; maternal grandmother: Marilyn Summerall Peel; maternal grandfathers: Billy Dean Peel (Samantha); aunt and uncles: Heather P.
