On Sunday, December 4, 2022, Barbara B. Franklin, loving wife, and mother of two, passed away at the age of 59.
Barb was born on October 19, 1963, in Little Chute, Wisconsin to the late Harold (Harry) and Mary Lou Bressers. She was the youngest of four kids, with two older brothers, Dan and Tim, and an older sister, Beth. On November 8, 1997, she married George (Lindsay) Franklin Sr. They raised two kids, Savannah and Lindsay Jr., in their home in Bluffton, SC.
Barb had a passion for anything creative. From creating scrapbooks out of the numerous photos she took to meticulously painting various rooms within their home, she was able to turn anything into a beautiful work of art. However, she was most known for her extraordinary baking talents – which were both delicious as well as beautifully decorated. On any given day, you could find her kitchen table covered in cookies, cupcakes, or cakes as friends from all over the area reached out to her for any sort of holiday or celebration.
Barb had a strong sense of faith and a very big heart that she shared with everyone she met. She had a hard time saying ‘no’ to others as she lived to make those around her happy. Her unwavering faith guided her through her two and a half year battle with ovarian cancer, which she took on with incredible strength and the best attitude anyone’s seen. Throughout her fight with cancer, she never stopped putting others first and herself second – a testament to her gracious nature.
Barb is survived by her husband Lindsay Sr. and two kids Savannah and Lindsay Jr. She is also survived by her brothers, sister, in-laws: Dan (Nancy) Bressers, Tim (Diane) Bressers, Beth (Jim) Wanek, Peter (Kim) Franklin, Jerry (Deb) Franklin, Joe Franklin, and Brian Franklin; and nieces and nephews: Nick (Anna) Bressers, Emma (Alex) Bounmixay, Devin (Kelley) Bressers, Megan (Ishaka) Vesely, Peter (Lindsey) Franklin III, Christopher Franklin, Colden Franklin, and Suzanne (Daniel) Gonzales.
She is preceded in death by her father, Harry, and mother, Mary Lou.
The funeral mass for Barb will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 16, 2022, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 31 St Gregory Dr, Bluffton, SC.
The Franklin family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Thomas, Lynn, and the rest of the St. Joseph Candler team as well as Dr. Orr and his MUSC team for the care they provided.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA).
