Barbara Gemme

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Thursday, July 11, 2024, Barbara Eileen Riordan Gemme, 86. 

Barbara was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on September 26, 1937. She earned a Bachelors in English from Anna Maria College, and a Masters in English from State University of Massachusetts (Worcester). Barbara worked as a Librarian at the Cora J. Bolden Public Library in Rocky Hill, Connecticut. She was an avid reader, loved the English Language, her family, and was proud of her Irish heritage.

Family members include a son, Patrick Gemme (Angelina); granddaughter, Lillian Belle Gemme; sister, Kaye DeLaney and other loving family members. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Catherine Riordan, her sister, Mary Riordan, and her daughter, Carol Gemme.

The memorial service will be held Friday, July 19, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Fr. Solomon Kanaan officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in St. John’s Cemetery in Worcester, MA. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:30 A.M. until the time of the service and again following the service, at the home of Patrick and Angelina Gemme.
