Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, Mrs. Barbara A. Williams, 81, loving wife of 53 years to the late Richard Williams, Sr.
Mrs. Williams was a retired civil service employee who spent over 20 years with Eisenhower Army Medical Center and the VA Hospital. During retirement, she also served Wal-Mart greeter.
Mrs. Williams was born on September 12, 1941 in Salem, New Jersey to the late Peter and Lillian (Peruical) DelBorrello of Penns Grove, New Jersey. She was an active member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Pendleton King Unit #10. She was also active in the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary State Department of Georgia where she started as 1st Junior vice on the State Line all the way to State Commander of Georgia. Mrs. Williams was DAVA National 9th District National Executive Committee Alternate for 2 years, then became DAVA National 9th District National Executive Committee person, NEC. She was also DAVA State Adjutant for 3 years and on the State Finance Committee for 8 years. Mrs. Williams volunteered for 27 years at the VA Hospital and the Georgia War Nursing Home. She was very active with the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #10 and State Department.
Family members include her sons: Richard Williams, Jr and wife Lynn of Killeen, TX, Peter Williams and wife Belinda of McKinney, TX; daughters: Sherry Mooneyham and husband Paul of Gray, TN, Dona Williams of Martinez, GA, and Dora Stuch and husband Nathan of Omaha, NE; grandchildren; Michael and Austin Mooneyham, Talis and Twinner Houston, Tarin Williams, Mathew Santiago, and Savannah Williams; great grandchildren: Neveah, Tealinana, Brayley, Basil, Kyreon, Regan, Riley, and August. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her sister: Priscilla Dantine and brother-in-law George Dantine.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Williams request that memorial contributions be made to the Fisher House, Ft. Gordon, GA, and Georgia War Nursing Home, Augusta, GA.
The funeral service will be held Friday, February 3, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Friends may view a live stream of the service at
