Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Monday, August 27, 2018, Mrs. Belva Duncan Smith, 74, loving wife of John T.Y. Smith, Jr.

Mrs. Smith was a native of Augusta and lived in Paris, ME for 15 years. She graduated from the Academy of Richmond County and attended the University of Georgia. She was a member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church. She was a homemaker and later went to work at the Medical College of Georgia. Mrs. Smith said “her biggest fulfillment in life was loving and watching her children grow up and watching them take care of their families.”

Family members, in addition to her husband, include her children: Ashley Williams (Ed), Lorena Smith (Jim), Belva Anne Wellman (Marc), Harry “Jay” W. Jernigan, IV (Ashley), and the late infant daughter, Teresa Lynne Jernigan; 13 grandchildren; sisters: Barbara Kilpatrick (Cree) and Rita Davis (Jerry); and a host of other relatives and friends.

An uplifting, casual celebration of life graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 3:00 pm at Westover Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
