Augusta, GA – Mr. Ben S. Davis entered into rest on January 8, 2021.

Mr. Davis, a native of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, had retired from the United States Army as a Lt. Col. in 1979, and from the University Hospital Dietary Department in 1996. He served in Korea, Japan, and in Vietnam, and worked on the ‘New’ Walter Reed Army Medical Center Hospital during his final 10 years of military service.

Medals and Citations received while serving in the army were the Bronze Star Medal; Army Commendation Medal with OLC; National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal with 6 Battle Stars; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm.

Ben received his Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University in 1963 and his Master of Science degree at University of Maryland in 1973. He was a very active member of Alcoholics Anonymous from September 22,1981 and served as a volunteer and treasurer in the AA Central office between 1996-2011. Ben was elected to serve as GA state AA Treasurer from 2001-2002. During his 39 years of sobriety, he helped countless AA members recover from a hopeless state of mind and body. He will be truly missed.

Survivors include his brother William Guy Davis Jr. (Dianne); Susan Davis Mosley, Deborah Best Davis, Perry Hunter, Colter Hunter, sister Donie Ann Davis Henderson (Joe), William Reynolds Henderson; Donie Elizabeth Whittemore. Patrick Jay Davis (Annette), Benjamin Patrick & Katelyn Maria.

The graveside service will be held Thursday, January 14 at 2pm at Magnolia Cemetery, 222 N. Park St. DeFuniak Springs, 32433 Florida.
