Augusta, GA- "Bennie" Benjamin Ralph Christian entered into rest at home surrounded by his loving family early Saturday morning the 19th of January. Bennie had been sick the past year but has been an inspiration to the physicians' who cared for him. During this illness he demonstrated his great passion for life and family.

Bennie being a lifelong resident of Augusta is well known in the Augusta Community. After graduating from The University of Georgia he began his career and friendships at Rader VW and Mercedes Benz. Until he found his true passion working with wood, he was the founder and owner of Christian Millworks. His many credits were working on Augusta Historic Preservation Projects; Enterprise Mill, George Walton Home, "Alexandria " in Thomson, Georgia the oldest brick home in Georgia (1803) owned by William Wansley and once owned by the family of Thomas Jefferson. He has renovated many Augusta homes in Summerville and many others as far north as Chicago. He was an avid antique collector and he "haunted" antique auctions looking for that great "find". Bennie was well known for his joy of gardening since his early years of marriage. He was a proud and active grandfather at school functions, soccer games and most especially fishing at the lake.

Bennie is the son of the late Frank Christian, Sr. and Lillian Hammett Christian.
He is survived by his wife and childhood sweetheart Lee Perkins. His father and mother in law George and Joyce Perkins. His two daughters, Tara Christian and Ashley Christian Williams. His son in law David Williams and his grandsons Colin and Cooper Williams and his step granddaughter Mason Williams. His grandchildren were the light of his life. His brothers and sisters Frank and Jackie Christian, Pat and Marcus Clayton, Anne and Bobby Williams, Francis Christian, Paul and Lynn Christian. Many nieces and nephew, grand nieces and grand nephews and cousins. Bennie was preceded in death by his brothers Toni Christian and Henry Christian

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Thomas Poteet & Son with Dr. Jacob Malone officiating. The Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Milton "Mickey" Avrett, III, The Honorable Albert Pickett, Mario Roker, Joey Allen, Hank Crane and Johnny Christian. Honorary pallbearers will be The Honorable William M. Fleming, The Honorable Issac Jolles, The Honorable Carl Brown, Jack Garbo, Roy Simpkins, Alonso "Bruz" Boardman, Clay Boardman and Jake Busbia.
