Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Thursday, March 19, 2015, Mrs. Betty E. Tharpe, 77, loving wife to the late Leon Tharpe.

Mrs. Tharpe was a native of Aiken, SC but lived in the CSRA for most of her life. She owned and operated Forest Hills Grill for 23 years and was known for her southern cuisine. She was past president of the Berry Center and the Women’s Auxiliary for the American Legion, Post 63. She was a loving mother and grandmother to her children as well as others.

Family members include daughters: Linda DeShane (Robert), Sue Wayland, Cindy Lieb (Tom), Cinder Sullivan (Larry), Kelly Thompson (Ben); sons: Joe Kilpatrick, Bobby Kilpatrick, Scott Tharpe (Bel), Sean Tharpe (Heather); step-daughter: Donna Tharpe (Jim); 15 grandchildren; a number of great grandchildren; brothers: Gene Floyd (Peggy), Gary Widener; and sisters: Pat Herndon, Glenda Dismang, Diane Carroll (Buddy), Linda Foster (John),and Peggy L. Thompson (Charlie). She is preceded in death by her brothers, William and Roger Floyd and her granddaughter: Jessica Lynn Fulmer.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 23, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Eddie Bradford officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Brian Ikner, Zack Ikner, Justin DeShane, Michael Tharpe, Sean Neal, Don Tharpe, Gary Widener, Parker Tharpe, Bennett Tharpe, and Hunter Smith. Honorary pallbearer will be Davis Woods.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Berry Center, 3015 Walton Way Extension, Augusta, GA 30909.
