Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Wednesday, July 16, 2014, Mrs. Betty Jean McDonald Chalker, 76, loving wife of 57 years to Bill Chalker.

Mrs. Chalker was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church and was a Godly woman who loved her church family. She was a loving MeMe to everyone and was a constant source of courage and strength to her 3 children. She was a loving MeMe to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Chalker worked as a bookkeeper for various businesses and was a substitute teacher for 14 years with the Richmond County Board of Education.

In addition to her husband, family members include daughters: Angela Gay (Matthew) of Augusta and Alicia Hymas (Kevin) of Hephzibah; son: Tommy Chalker (Monica) of Aiken; grandchildren: Joshua, Sarah, Hannah, Ashton, and Melita; great grandchildren: Bayleigh, Chloe, and Taylor; special nieces: Brenda Ennis and Becky Johnson; sister-in-law: Melvis Norman; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents: Hugh Charles McDonald and Pauline Raborn; sister: Elizabeth Brown; and brother: Joseph Howell.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. F. Wayne Todd officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southside Baptist Church, c/o Property Fund, 3612 Mike Padgett Highway, Augusta, GA 30906.
