Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Tuesday, December 02, 2014, Mrs. Betty Joan Cox Haynie, 81, wife of 44 years to Mr. Robert S. Haynie, Sr.
Mrs. Haynie "BJ" was a native of Augusta. She lived in Beaufort, SC for a number of years in her youth and spent much time there as an adult as well. She graduated from Beaufort High School in 1950 and earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Mary Washington College in Virginia. After graduating Mrs. Haynie worked for Delta Airlines in Dallas, Texas.
Mrs. Haynie was a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church. She dedicated her time as a Pink Lady at University Hospital. Mrs. Haynie loved working in real-estate with her cousin George Kelley. Mrs. Haynie had a broad knowledge of antiques and older homes. She and her sister Jane shared a successful antiques shop that sent them searching far and wide for treasures.
Mrs. Haynie was a strong, capable woman with many talents. She and her husband Robert enjoyed travelling, sailing, throwing parties and tackling home renovation projects together.
She was a beloved grandmother and greatly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Family members include daughter: Elizabeth H. Thompson; sons: Sigman C. Haynie (Cindy), John C. Haynie (Laurie) and Robert S. Haynie, Jr.; grandchildren: Michael Spencer Haynie, William Luke Haynie, II, Elizabeth Logan Haynie, Rowan Lindsay Thompson, Benjamin Colqohoun Haynie and Emily Salter Haynie and sister: Jane Cox Lewis.
Graveside service will be Friday, December 5, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. at Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Cynthia Taylor officiating. The family will receive following the graveside service
