Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Thursday, May 12, 2016, Betty Rachel Richardson Byrd, 85, loving wife of the late Harmon Byrd, Jr.
Mrs. Byrd is a native of Aiken, SC, but lived in Augusta, Ga. She taught 2nd grade Sunday school for many years at Gracewood Baptist and worked in the nursery at Central Baptist. Mrs. Byrd loved to cook and making cakes was her specialty. She was a woman of integrity. The family would like to express appreciation to the staff at Silver Linings Assisted Living, in Stapleton, and Keysville Nursing Home.
Family members include her 2 daughters: Cindy Rodriguez and husband, Johnny, and B.J. Agerton and husband, Jim; 4 grandchildren: Jonathan Rodriguez, Matthew Agerton, Joey Rodriguez and Annah Rae Agerton; 3 great-grandchildren and a host of other loving family members. She is preceded in death by her husband and 3 sisters and 7 brothers.
The funeral service will be Monday, May 16, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 106 SRP Drive, Suite A, Evans, GA 30809.
