Hephzibah, GA – Entered into rest Tuesday, May 31, 2022. Betty loved and served God faithfully with all her heart. She was a loving and devoted wife of 64 years to Eugene until his passing in 2017.
Betty was born in Glascock County on December 13, 1933. She has called Richmond County home since 1952. She retired from Civil Service at Fort Gordon and went on to work at Wal-Mart for the next twenty years. She attended Miracle Baptist Church.
Family members include her granddaughters: Kristie Sammons, April Clark (David), and Brittany Ryan (Michael); great grandchildren: Hazel Grace and Tripp Clark; and Jaxon Ryan. She is preceded in death by her sons Michael E. Sammons and Mark A. Sammons, her parents Jackson and Emma Bell, brother Lester Bell and sister Anita Black.
The family would like to extend special thanks to her friends and caregivers, Mike and Lorraine Dismuke. They have given of themselves so selflessly to make sure she was taken care of and treated her like their own family. She thought the world of them. They would also like to thank the staff in the memory care unit, at Augusta Gardens Senior Living for making her feel at home during her time there.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 4, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. John Bartlett officiating. Burial will be private.
