Betty Sue Henderson
“Grandy”
July 2, 1929 – September 28, 2022
Grandy was born in Cramerton, NC to Edward and Hattie Stowe. She graduated from Cramerton High School, all the while taking piano lessons. Grandy became quite an accomplished “Boogie Woogie” piano player and joined a band that played for many including senators. She went on and graduated from Kings Business College in Charlotte, NC.
Grandy married the late Robert R. Hilker. They divorced in 1966. Later in life she married the late Colonel William Henderson with whom she traveled the world. In her travels she danced with Lawrence Welk and met Ike and Mamie Eisenhower at the Masters. Gandy was on the 18th Hole at the Masters when Tiger Woods received his first Green Jacket and she even met his parents. She became a huge fan of golf never missing a tournament on TV and loved to see Tiger play.
Grandy kept her mind sharp by reading, working crossword puzzles, decorating, cooking, crocheting and making Crewel pictures.
Grandy had a beautiful healthy life, she was loved by many and will be missed. However, you can rest assured that Grandy… “Did It Her Way”.
