Augusta, GA - Entered rest on Monday, July 22, 2024, Mrs. Betty Cowan Walker, wife of the late Stewart Phinizy Walker Jr., and mother of the late Stewart Phinizy Walker III. 

Betty is survived by her daughters: Laura Walker Boyd (Joe), Julia Walker Hickman (Mike); grandchildren: Jim Boyd, Elizabeth Shannon (Bryan), Walker Boyd, Virginia Boyd, Brooks Duncan (Jeremy), Sarah Daniel, Corey Hickman (Alyssa), Brianna Hickman. Great grandchildren: Carson Towler, Phinizy Towler, Beckham Hickman, Marleigh Shannon, Maggie Shannon, Billie Boyd. Betty is predeceased by her siblings: Mildred Salter, Joyce Jones, Bobby Moose, Samuel Cowan, Tommy Cowan, and her niece and nephew, Suzette Adams and Hugh Salter. 

A graveside service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Friday, July 26, 2024 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Kimberly Dunn officiating.The family will receive friends following the service. 

Betty was born and raised in Bartow, Georgia. She moved to Augusta to attend the Barrett School of Nursing. As the family grew, she left nursing to be at home. When her children got older she returned to nursing at Doctors Hospital. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
