Beverly Dozier Brashear

Augusta, GA — Beverly Dozier Brashear entered into rest Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at the age of 95. Beverly was born on November 9, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan. She was predeceased by her parents, Ralph Hunt Dozier and Mildred Cowles Dozier; her beloved husband of almost 50 years, Goldman T. “Brash” Brashear; and her sister, Lois Dozier Harrison.

Beverly moved to Augusta as a small child and lived on Washington Road when it was still dirt. She attended Tubman High School where she graduated in 1942. Beverly worked for Bell South as an administrative assistant for 25 years and retired. Beverly attended Augusta College at night to attain her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting. For her second career she became the accountant for Brashear Development Corporation.

Beverly was devoted to her church, The Church of the Good Shepherd. She attended church until her health would no longer permit. Beverly enjoyed her mountain home and usually spent her summers divided between there and her Augusta home. Beverly had a great affinity for cats. When her two cats finally died, Beverly kept her love alive by collecting everything relating to cats. She was an expert at playing bridge and played cards on her computer to the very last.

She is survived by her stepson: Mattice T. “Tice” Brashear (Jan); her stepdaughter: Teranece O. “Dessa” Brashear and her two nieces: Angela Stewart Prettelt (Gordon) of Evans and Kim Stewart Wade (Norton) of Evans;

Our family would like to express our gratitude to all of Beverly's exceptional caregivers at MYD Services, with a special thanks to Vicky and Dell. Many of her later years were made enjoyable with the help of her caretakers.

A service will be Saturday, May 13, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private.
