Mrs. Beverly M. Howard

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Wednesday, April 19, 2023. Mrs. Beverly Myers Howard, 79, was a loving wife of 36 years to the late Dr. Matthew T. Howard and a devoted mother to her children Corday and Kevin.

Beverly was the first baby born in Albany, GA on January 3, 1944. Later she moved to Atlanta, GA where was a varsity cheerleader at Northside High School. There she fell in love with and eventually married her high school football hero, Matt Howard. Beverly attended the University of Georgia and was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She moved to Augusta, GA in 1963 and worked at the C&S Bank while Matt attended The Medical College of Georgia.

Beverly had a passion for the arts, gardening and community involvement. She was a skilled gardener and accomplished multimedia artist. She volunteered for the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art and Undercover Artist program with Walton Rehabilitation. As part of Margaret Brown Flowers, she designed flower arrangements for The Augusta Country Club, the clubhouse and Butler Cabin at the National during the Masters Golf Tournament and countless weddings. She was also a volunteer for the Alzheimer’s Association and the Jud C. Hickey Day Center. She is a past member of the Junior League and Bulbs and Borders Garden Club.

She was a devoted member of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church. She faithfully attended her Sunday school class, Pairs and Spares and her weekly Bible study, Loaves of Faith. When she was unable to attend, she enjoyed watching the services from home.

Family members in addition to her husband include her children: Corday Howard and Dr. Matthew K Howard (Mary Greg); grandchildren: Matthew Capers Borders, Lily Walker Borders, Molly Joseph, and Beatty Joseph. She is predeceased by her parents: the late Dr. John Morgan Myers and Pamela Harris Myers and her sister, Pam Sedberry.

The memorial service will be Monday, April 24, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church with Dr. Scott Hearn officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors.
