Augusta, GA – Mr. William “Bill” Allen Anderson went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 22, 2017, ten days prior to his 88th birthday.
Mr. Anderson served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and continued in the Marine Reserves for 10 years. He retired from SRS after 40 years. He was a longtime faithful member of Crawford Avenue Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, RA Director, teacher and choir member. Bill was honored as Deacon Emeritus in 2016. He was a Godly man who loved his Lord with all his heart and shared that love with all he met. He cherished his wife of 66 years, his girls and his large close knit family. Bill had a huge heart and found joy in helping others. He was a gifted handy man to many and loved working with his tools.
Family members include his beloved wife: Barbara “Bobbie” Allen Anderson; daughters: Karen Anderson Yonce (Steve) and Sheryl Anderson Clark; grandchildren: Travis Yonce (Brandy) and Lindsey Yonce Crosby (Joshua); great granddaughter: Ava Yonce; sisters-in-law: Dorothy and Joan Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents: John T. Anderson, Sr. and Mattie Lee Bennett Anderson; brothers: Roy Anderson, John T. Anderson, Jr., Archie Bennett, and Richard Anderson; and by his grandson: Zachary Andrew Clark.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Crawford Avenue Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Travis Yonce, Joshua Crosby, Doc Allen, Butch Lord, Dennis Perry, Patrick Meagher, Kyle Knight, and Michael Harrold. Honorary pallbearers will be Dwight Burch and Doc Meadows.
