Bill DeLoach
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at University Hospital, Mr. William Slaton “Bill” DeLoach, 75, loving husband to Charlotte Bowden DeLoach.
Mr. DeLoach was a native of Tattnall County where he grew up and worked on the farm. He was a graduate of Claxton High School and was “first trumpet” in the band. He entered the United States Army Security Agency and was stationed in Hawaii and Chitosie, Japan from 1956 to 1959 and remained in the Army Reserve afterwards. Mr. DeLoach devoted his life to the HVAC industry, beginning as a counter man with Baker Brothers in 1959 and rose to be a top manager. He retired as a multiple award-winning Zone Manager with 50 years of service that earned him widespread respect and admiration from his peers.
He was a member of Waynesboro First United Methodist Church and the Scrap Gresham Sunday School Class. He was an avid Georgia Bulldogs Fan, a conservative and patriot. He loved fishing and all things American.
Family members in addition to his wife include sons: John DeLoach, Mike Spence (Lisa), Darren Lee DeLoach (Jeanne), William Blair DeLoach; grandchildren: Ashley Leaphart, Todd DeLoach, Alex DeLoach, Morgan DeLoach, Haley Spence, Ansley Spence, Chandler Spence, Cheyenne DeLoach, Sierra DeLoach; great grandchildren: Shelby, Bristol, and Memphis Leaphart. He is preceded in death by his sister, Dellene Johnstone.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in Waynesboro First United Methodist Church with Rev. Craig Hutto officiating. Burial will be private. Pallbearers will be Todd DeLoach, Geoff Stephens, Andrew Johnstone, Bill DeLoach, Brandon Leaphart, and Cheyenne DeLoach. Honorary pallbearers will be the Scrap Gresham Sunday School Class.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the church.
