Evans, GA – Entered into rest on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, Mr. William “Bill” F. Trammell, age 84, husband of 60 years to Janice O’Connell Trammell, son: Mark Christopher Trammell and sister: Helene T. Bunch

A New Orleans native, Bill graduated Redemptorist High and Loyola University with a BS-Chemistry. A US Army veteran; served on active duty in the MPs and as Captain in Infantry Reserves. Active for 25+ years in Toastmasters International. Winner of several TM speaking awards. Owens-Corning retiree, 26 years’ service at the Aiken, SC plant. For many years at OC, he played Santa Clause for the employees’ children. Named OCF 2015 Global Retiree Volunteer of the Year. After retiring, consulted for Owens-Corning, taught seminars for Fred Pryor and Dale Carnegie, and volunteered at Columbia County Cares Food Pantry, where he also wrote their grant proposals. Volunteered and consulted at Fort Discovery Science Center, where he was the initial recipient of the Paul Simon Volunteer of the Year Award and winner of WJBF’s “Giving Your Best” award for his service there. Fifty plus year member of the American Chemical Society (ACS), he developed and presented chemical demonstrations at Fort Discovery, both live and on interactive TV, to students around the country and the world. The ACS recognized his outreach efforts at Fort Discovery by naming him winner of the 2011 Helen M. Free Award. Remained active in the Savannah River ACS Section, doing demonstrations with them at schools. Served as ACS Chemical Ambassador at Lakeside High, Evans, GA. A lifelong Catholic and very active member of St. Mary on the Hill Parish, Augusta and more recently at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, Grovetown. A 3rd Degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 8495. Bill had a big smile, a quick wit and enjoyed jokes.

A private graveside service will be held at Westover Memorial Park. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on May 21, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Teresa with Bishop Kevin Boland celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Teresa of Avila Building Fund, 4921 Columbia Road, Grovetown, GA 30813.
