Bob Whyte

Augusta, GA – Mr. Robert “Bob” Sheridan Whyte, age 91, loving husband of Catherine Whyte, died on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at his residence in Augusta, Georgia.
Bob was born in Lansing, MI in 1931 where his Scottish father worked as an engineer at Oldsmobile. In 1939 the family was vacationing in Scotland but were prevented from returning to the U.S. by the outbreak of the Second World War. Bob worked at Rolls Royce during the 1950s. He returned to Michigan with his wife Catherine in 1959. Like his father, he joined Oldsmobile as an engineer where he worked for the next thirty-three years.
Family members, in addition to his wife, include his sons: Anthony Whyte (Nanette), David Whyte (Paige); grandchildren: Jack Whyte, Callie Lovering (Jon-Michael), John-Christian Whyte, Mary-Paige Whyte, Analeigh Whyte; great-grandchild: John-David Lovering.
The funeral Mass will be held Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Fr. Mark Ross as celebrant. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 15, 2023, beginning at 10:15 AM until the time of the service at the church.
