Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Monday, June 6, 2016, Mr. Robert Thomas Attaway, age 89, loving husband of 64 years to the late Ann Scott Attaway.
Bobby was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta. He served his country in WWII in the US Navy aboard the USS Randolph. He played Catcher in the St. Louis Cardinals Minor League System. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. He retired as a Supervisor with the US Postal Service.
Family members include his sons: Robert Thomas Attaway, Jr. (Sharon), Dr. Dean Scott Attaway (Tim), Mark Allen Attaway (Carol); daughter: Angela Deer Attaway; 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and his late sister, Jane Attaway Hope.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Pastor David Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Chris Attaway, Daniel Attaway, Rob Attaway, Justin Kamishlian, Greg Shuford and Frank Phillips.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 825 Greene St., Augusta, GA 30901.
