Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Friday, May 2, 2014, Mr. Robert W. “Bobby” Whaley, 85, loving husband of Mabel R. Whaley. Bobby, son of Carlos Cortez Whaley and step-father Frank Whaley and mother Jessie Skinner Whaley.

Bobby was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta. He was a 1945 graduate of the Academy of Richmond County. While in school, with his family, he owned and operated a dairy. He earned a degree in welding from Augusta Tech. Bobby believed in doing things on his own, he owned and operated Whaley Cricket Farm, after physically building the structure in which it was housed. He was a member of Warren Baptist Church and was a Sunday School Volunteer. Mr. Whaley was a devoted father to his daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Family members in addition to his wife include his daughters: Linda Gail Holt (Bernie), the late Teresa Diane Sanderson (David); grandchildren; Heather Smith (Josh), Heyward Holt, Matt Sanderson (Morgan Little); great-grandchildren: Davis and Greer Smith; sister: Dorothy Whaley Little-Craig (Richard); nephews: Neal Little (Jan), Terry Little (Jennie), Gary Little (Romona), David Little (Kim), Alan Little (Kathy); niece: Susan Little Wilson (Joey); step nephews: Malcolm Kling (Anne), Tommy Kling, Harold Fountain (Gayle); and step nieces: Sara Pless and Carolyn Allen.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel at Warren Baptist Church with Rev. Dave Dillard and Rev. David Little officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Warren Baptist Church, 3203 Washington Rd., Martinez, GA 30907.
