Bonita Bain Freeman Hensley
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Saturday, April 26, 2014, Bonita Bain Freeman Hensley, 95.
Mrs. Hensley was born in Montgomery, AL on February 20, 1919. She moved to Augusta at the age of 2 and graduated from Tubman High School in 1936. She was a member of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church. Mrs. Hensley retired from Fort Gordon Training Aids after many years. Her life revolved around her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; they were her greatest delight. She served many wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas meals for many years at her home on Bransford Road to family and extended friends, where afterwards, a game of touch football was enjoyed by all. She loved to read, especially mysteries by Erle Stanley Gardner. She was a fast typist, loved her dogs and old movies. She made great pumpkin bread, pimento cheese and dressing.
Family members include children: Forrest Hensley (Susan), Bonnie Brooks (James), Pamela Long, and Susan Norvell; grandchildren: Kelly Farmer (Steve), Kim Franklin (Peter), Forrest Hensley, Jr. (Kathy), James Brooks (DeAnn), Nicole Brooks, Ryan Brooks (Amanda), Jason Long, Dana Caudill (Darrell), Kristy Thorstad (Brian), and Tracy Rose (Lee); 20 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister: Dorothy Dukes; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Blanche Freeman and her sister, Joyce Hester.
The family wishes to thank her caregiver Elizabeth Harmon for her help and friendship.
A graveside service will be held Monday, April 28, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Greg Hatfield officiating.
