Augusta, GA – Bonnie Pierce Mulcay, 80, entered into rest Friday, November 4, 2022.
Bonnie was a member of the Church of the Most Holy Trinity. Born on July 30, 1942, she graduated from Aquinas High School in 1960 where she was the President of the girls class her senior year. She entered the Convent of Religious Sisters of Mercy in Baltimore. Bonnie graduated from Mt. St. Agnes College with a degree in Sociology. Bonnie taught at several schools in Richmond County for 30 years, including the most years at East Augusta Middle School. She worked hard to present engaging lessons in which students could achieve success. She was a member of the Richmond County Retired Educators Association and enjoyed lunches with a special group of retired teachers. Bonnie had attended and enjoyed several reunions of the Aquinas Class of 1960 and had a great time seeing her classmates.
Bonnie devoted her life to rescuing and loving abused and neglected animals. She felt that all God’s creatures deserved care. At one time Bonnie had 52 dogs, 26 cats, 3 horses, 2 guinea pigs, and 1 blind racoon spread across 8 acres that she and her housemate cleared by hand.
Family members include her brother: Jack Mulcay of New Hampshire; special friends: Laura Jeanette Playford, Anita Bronold, Ann Hill, Jenny and Bill Jackson, The Pagano Family (Alina, Nick, Angela, and Lisa); and many other devoted friends. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents: John and Sara Capler Mulcay.
The family would like to thank Pepper Hill Center for Rehabilitation and Healing and Crescent Hospice for their compassionate care of Bonnie.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son.
