Brenda Long Jackson
Augusta, GA – Brenda Long Jackson, 76, formerly of Augusta, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 3, 2018 at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton, FL.
Brenda was known for her love of family, her strength, her generosity and compassion because of the strong relationship she had with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She created friendships that lasted throughout her lifetime and she never hesitated to help anyone in need. She spent her career as a nurse advocating for veterans and the elderly, eventually retiring from the VA after decades of dedicated service. She earned her Master’s Degree from the University of South Florida and became a Nurse Practitioner in an effort to increase the quality of care for her veterans. She always considered her work in the medical field as a ministry rather than a job and she worked tirelessly to make sure patients had the best and most dignified care possible. She participated in many research studies that were published in nursing and medical journals. Above all, she was a loving mother and grandmother.
Family members include her children Jeanne Michelle Richards of Cape Coral, FL, Rebekah Lynn Holland of Clearwater, FL and Mark Alexander Jackson of St. Petersburg, FL. Other survivors include her son-in-law Thomas Richards of FL, her daughter-in-law, Krista Jackson of FL and a sister, Rachel Brink of FL. Her brother, John Michael Long, preceded her in death. She was also blessed with 12 beloved grandchildren and 5 beloved great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Monday, July 9, 2018, 11:00 A.M. at Central Christian Church, 220 Crawford Ave, Augusta GA, 30904. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
