Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Tuesday, January 26, 2016, Mrs. Brenda Smith New, 74, loving wife of the late Mr. Danel New.
Brenda was born in 1941 to Margaret P. Smith and Vernon E. Smith. She graduated from Academy of Richmond County in 1959 and attended Augusta College from 1959 to 1961. She graduated from the University of Georgia in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Brenda began teaching in the Richmond County School System in 1963 and retired in 1968. She taught at National Hills Elementary and Copeland Elementary. She also taught at Westminster Day School from 1980 thru 1982. Brenda was married to Danel New on June 24, 1967.
Family members include her daughters: Valerie A. New and Allison M. New, both of Augusta; many cousins and her beloved pets. She is also preceded in death by her daughter: Melanie New.
A memorial service will be Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Fred Gunter officiating.
Because of her love of animals and her wish to support “No Kill” shelters the family request that in Iieu of flowers, memorial contributions to be made to Girard Lifesaver Rescue, 10353 Hwy 23-S, Girard, GA 30426.
