Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Wednesday, November 1, 2017, Charles Emory Towner, Sr., 91, husband of Beadie Duggan Towner.
Mr. Towner was born in Gibson, GA but lived most of his life in the Augusta area. He served in the US Navy in World War II and Korean. Mr. Towner was a member of Crawford Avenue Baptist Church. He was the owner of Masters City Transport.
Mr. Towner was active in the AMBUCS, worked with the Red Carpet Tour, and
various other civic clubs and activities. He was a member of Full Moon Fishing
Club and an avid Georgia Bulldog fan. He loved people and loved to serve.
Family members include sons: Charles E. Towner, Jr (Susy), Lawrence E. “Ed” Towner; daughter: Brenda Cantelou (Pete); three grandchildren-Teresa Conley,
Petey Cantelou, and Daniel Towner; four great grandchildren; brothers: Marvin Towner (Beth) and Ernest Towner (Laura Ann); sister: Evelyn Thomas and many
nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Ira Towner and a sister
Ruth Noles.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Rev. Bert Daniel officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Honorary Pallbearers are members of his Sunday School class and members of Full Moon Fishing Club.
