Carl Howell “Butch” Hargrove, Jr.
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, Carl Howell “Butch” Hargrove, Jr., 81, loving husband of Libby Hargrove for 52 years.
Born June 13th, 1942 in Augusta, GA. He attended the Academy of Richmond County and the University of Georgia. As an entrepreneur, he previously owned & operated Alpine Nursery for Landscape Design and Bedford Nurseries. He founded & was the president of Aarbour Pool & Patio for 35 years. He was a lifelong member of Trinity on the Hill Methodist Church and the Pairs & Spares Sunday School class.
He was a founding member of Pinetucky Gun Club, talented artist, avid tennis player & Georgia Bulldog fan. He spent his later years working on his farm. Spending time with his family and teaching the skills of farming, hunting & fishing to his grandchildren were some of his fondest memories. Annual family beach trips were the highlight of his summers. With a savvy wardrobe & sharp mind, he was always willing to help & advise others. Those who truly knew him knew not to call him during his daily nap.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. During his battle with cancer, he truly found & deepened his relationship with the Lord providing him much comfort & peace.
Family members in addition to his wife include his children: Beth Hargrove Cramer (John), Trey Hargrove (Lauren), and Todd Hargrove; grandchildren: John Thomas Cramer (Samantha), Elizabeth Cramer, Mary Cramer, Daniel Cramer, Lydia Cramer, Elijah Cramer, Charlie Hargrove, William Hargrove, and Sam Hargrove; great-grandchildren: Ayden and Hudson; brother: Gerald Hargrove; and his close cousin: Pete Brodie. He is preceded in death by his parents Carl Howell Hargrove, Sr. & Dr. Geraldine W. Hargrove and brother Phil Hargrove.
A graveside service will be held Monday, June 19, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Scott Hearn officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the cemetery.
