Retired SSG Carl Herrell

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Tuesday, November 1, 2011, SSG (retired) Carl Herrell, 71, husband of Jacqueline Herrell.

Carl was a native of Fort Worth, Texas and made his home in Augusta, Georgia. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. In addition to his wife, Jackie, he has left behind his daughters Betty Herrell, Veronica Tarver, and Caroline (husband Sam) Walden, all of Augusta; his grandsons Joshua and Matthew Tarver, Zachary and Austin Walden. Carl also had a number of brothers and sisters.

Memorial Services will be held today, Friday, November 4, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Fort Gordon’s Eisenhower Medical Center Chapel on the third floor. The hospital chaplain will be officiating.

Carl was a devoted family man sharing his love of fishing and tall tales. He served as a faithful Red Cross volunteer. He was a friend to all he met, never meeting a stranger.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made on his behalf to the American Red Cross, or the American Heart Association.

Please allow extra time for gate access when arriving at the military installation.
